At Pure Blanks, we strive to affect as much positive change as possible through our business practices by giving back to our people, our communities, and our environment wherever we can. Beyond our commitment to using only certified organic cotton,eco-friendly dyes, low impact inks, and recycled paper hang tags we make an effort to reduce plastic waste by packaging multiple garments in one bag when we import.
Pure Blanks also supports fair labor practices. As a vertical manufacturer, Pure Blanks is directly responsible and manages all stages of manufacturing, from the fabric mills, to the cut & sew facilities, to packaging. This ensures all partners are participating in a responsible manufacturing process.
Pure Blanks is dedicated to continuing its research and development of new and better technology in organic manufacturing practices, with future plans to introduce more styles and colors.
What is Organic Cotton?
Conventional cotton farming is one of agriculture's most environmentally destructive activities, taking an enormous toll on the air, water, and soil, as well as people living around pesticide laden cotton fields.
Organically grown cotton is grown in soil that has been certified free from pesticides, herbicides and other toxins. Organic farming uses 50% less fossil fuels than conventional agriculture. Organic cotton farming builds strong soil through crop rotation, compost and tillage, and retains water more efficiently because of increased organic matter in the soil, while resulting in production that is better than conventional cotton.
Certified organic cotton farming also prohibits the use of genetic engineering, irradiation, sewage sludge, toxic and persistent synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. By its very nature organic cotton cannot be grown from genetically engineered seed.

Background on Navdanya:
• The setting up of community seed banks is central to their mission of regenerating nature’s and people’s wealth. Keeping seeds, biodiversity and traditional knowledge in people’s hands to generate livelihoods and provide basic
needs is our core program for removal of poverty.
• The main aim of the Navdanya Biodiversity Conservation Program is to support local farmers, rescue and
conserve crops and plants that are being pushed to extinction, and make these available through direct marketing.
• Navdanya has a primary membership of more than 70,000 farmer families in thirteen States. 60,000 farmers
have been converted to organic farming in Uttaranchal.
• Navdanya is a women-led gender sensitive movement, founded by Dr. Vandana Shiva, which puts women first.
Our gender program called Diverse Women for Diversity seeks to strengthen women’s grassroots movements and provide women with a common international platform to air their views. |
